Rescue Emergency Care (REC)

Rescue Emergency Care is  national First Aid training organisation. It is approved by the Health and Safety Executive or HSE (number 1529/95) to offer HSE First Aid courses.  It is also recognised by the National Sport Governing Bodies e.g. MLTB, RYA, BCU, SPA and WGL.

REC was set up in Scotland by Dr Bob Phillips and Professor G Page of the Scottish Ski Patrol, who recognised the need for an Outdoor First Aid qualification at a time when all First Aid training was carpet and urban based. REC was the first main Outdoor First Aid training scheme which took into account the requirements of the HSE but also the complications of remote locations where help could be delayed in arriving.

REC uses a progressive system and is practical with a lot of hands-on.

On successful completion of the course REC issues a certificate which is valid for three years
.
